The Grand Theatre, with its seriousness and majesty, turned out to be the perfect place for a show of the new, autumn/winter collection by Maciej Zień. On June 12, the designer presented his line “First Lady”.
What is the First Lady like according to Maciej Zień? First and foremost, she is extremely feminine, elegant and full of class. The collection is a reference to the most known stylizations of the always impeccably dressed, popular First Ladies of the previous century - it is classical and perfectly depicts how today’s Grace Kelly or Jackie Kennedy should look like.
The materials used by the creator this season res mostly silk and muslin, but we also have refined cashmere and fur - of course, ecological. These magic materials were enrichened by embroideries, which Maciej Zień has fancied since almost the beginning of time and the characteristic applications made of Swarovski crystals. Reflexes of light reflecting from crystals on wedding dresses from the newest collections just had to be seen live. Next to the classical white and black, the designer used a wide palette of colors - there is cornflower blue and maroon, but attention is drawn by orange and its various hues.
The show ended in the rhythm of one of the greatest hits of 1960s - “War” by soul artist Edwin Starr. This strong piece was a signal of rebellion against the war in Vietnam, and its most famous line “War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing” was on the lips of millions of hippies in the USA, but also on the last “First Lady” collection T-shirt, presented during the show finale. This way, Maciej Zień expressed his concern with the tense political situation in the world and declared himself a pacifist.
The show hosted many starts, amongst all, Aneta Kręglicka, Monika Olejnik, Edyta Herbuś or Maffashion, who were all able to quench their thirst with Cisowianka Perlage, always present during the best shows.
